It started when I solved a woman's 10-year medical mystery in three seconds. But it didn't happen in my office — it happened over social media. That one moment showed me both how broken health learning has become, and how powerful the medium could be if it were built differently.
The way we learn about health is broken. Patients are overwhelmed by misinformation online. Short, viral content spreads faster than facts, and people are left trying to make sense of their health through fragmented, often contradictory advice.
At the same time, doctors don't have enough time in clinical visits to teach, explain, and contextualize. Medicine has been compressed into appointments that are too short for real education — leaving patients with unanswered questions and physicians with impossible expectations.
And health information is siloed. Different specialties speak different languages; different systems hold different pieces of the puzzle. Patients are expected to connect dots that even professionals struggle to integrate.
